I partnered with EeJayCee, Inc., a digital agency, to develop high quality content such as newsletters, social media content, sales materials, and presentations for clients. Additionally, I wrote bi-weekly blog posts, including the one below, to help inform and empower clients about digital marketing strategies.

5 Tips to Overcome Writer’s Block for Content Marketers written by Natalie Drugan and published by Eejaycee, Inc.

Content is King! We’ve been hearing this phrase for years. And, with the continued rise of social media, content is more crucial than ever for marketers. But, what happens when new content development is hindered by the infamous writer’s block? How can marketers overcome this mental obstacle?

Here are 5 tips to help you develop new content with ease:

  1. Read: Setup news feeds to get new content ideas; feeds allow you to quickly scan the latest happenings and top topics in a given industry. Feedly is a great, free tool that allows you to save and organize a plethora of RSS feeds from various news and industry sites and blogs.

  2. Socialize: Set up a call, grab lunch or coffee or attend an event with others in your industry. Some of the best content marketing ideas can simply come from conversations, informal interviews and storytelling with others.

  3. Recycle: Don’t be afraid to use existing content to develop new ideas and content. For example, you could take an existing blog post or case study and spin it into a new piece by focusing on a particular theme or offer a new, perspective.

  4. Share: Great content can stem from personal experiences. Share your expert thoughts and opinions from industry related conferences, client engagements, company meetings, recently read books, etc.

  5. Stop: Stop, pause and walk away. Take a mental break and call a friend, turn on the TV or podcast, surf the web, or pick up a book. The best content ideas may just come when you least expect them.

These tips will help you become the king of content. Just remember, when developing new content, make sure it is relevant, valuable and useful to your desired audience, and strive for consistency.
